Part of the project involves the construction of an additional motorway bridge next to the existing bridge, providing eight lanes across the Manukau Harbour. This Project when complete will finish the Western Ring Route Link.
Current Higgins Activity
Higgins are currently getting the final touches ready so that surfacing can commence on the job. The team is focused on closing out work and finishing the job well. Final surfacing commenced in February 2010 and will run through to April. From April, most of the project will be surfaced. The May to August months will see prelevelling work undertaken on the new Mangere Bridge followed by tie in work to ensure the duplicate lanes are fully utilised.
