Project Summary
Meridian Energy's Project Westwind constructed 62 wind turbines at Terawhiti Station and Makara Farm west of Wellington. Combined these wind turbines generate enough energy to meet the needs of about 70,000 average households.
The West Wind project is the third Wind Farm project successfully undertaken by the Higgins Projects team. Wind Farms civil construction involves a unique set of environmental challenges. The harsh and isolated location of Project Westwind was no different. The success of the project shows the strength of the Higgins specialist knowledge and the commitment, hard work and 'Can Do' attitude across the wide range of Higgins teams involved.
