Waste community glass in the Palmerston North region is now being reused in local community roads.  Higgins Aggregates crush and blend community glass into basecourse road mix - crushed glass making up 5% of the mix. This initiative, which started in 2007 in conjunction with Full Circle and the Palmerston North City Council has utilized significant quantities of surplus waste glass. In fact, since the project started in August 2007 over 450 truck loads of glass have been crushed and used in road surfaces.
