Going to the top - Manawatu Gorge slip

NZTA continue to work on a safe method of clearing and stabilising the slip site at the Manawatu Gorge.

Before NZTA could consider the hillside secure, Contractors would need to pull down debris from above the slip site.  Higgins Contractors are currently working to establish access to the top of the slip site.

NZTA Palmerston North State Highways Manager David McGonigal says experts are also working to analyse the slip's movement and work out how removal of debris at the site will affect the adjacent section of the hillside.
