Higgins Contractors Bay of Plenty was recently successful in obtaining the 'Tauranga City' Maintenance Contract and Higgins Contractors Palmerston North successfully tendered for the 'Palmerston North City' and the 'Manawatu District' Maintenance Contracts.
"The contracts are great for the Branch as it gives a very firm foot hold in the greater Manawatu Region" says Higgins Contractors Palmerston North Branch Manager. "The on going nature of maintenance contracts and associated add-on work will enable us to broaden staff skills and to maintain more even staff numbers between summer and winter."
To fulfill the Manawatu District contract, the equivalent of 31 full time people are required for the period of the contract. The contract involves 1033km of sealed and 395km of unsealed pavement maintenance. It also includes routine drainage and structures maintenance, environmental maintenance, vegetation control, traffic services maintenance, unsealed road metal renewal, approximately 100km per year of sealed road resurfacing and 6.5km of AWPT work.
Higgins Bay of Plenty Branch Manager Alex Reid says "we are delighted to continue with TCC on maintaining and resurfacing the local network and it puts us in a position to inject funding into capital expenditure, training and recruitment over the period of the contract" The Branches asphalt plant recently achieved a high level of compliance through the Asphalt Plant Accreditation Scheme and this supports the Branches continued push to produce new products and innovation that can be offered to their Tauranga City client and others.
