Manawatu Gorge closed due to slips

Manawatu Gorge continues to be closed for public safety. Latest slip photo as at 1 October 2011.

An initial large slip in the Gorge on the 18th August was cleared but subsequent slips have forced ongoing road closure to the travelling public.  Higgins Maintenance teams are worked to clear the road again - removing loose rock and debri covering the road.  NZTA will reopen the road once they have received surety of public safety.
