Laboratory & Testing

The Higgins Materials Testing Laboratories perform a vital service to our contracting operations, assisting in the development of new products, and testing materials to ensure they meet specification and performance parameters.

Higgins has long recognised the need for a credible testing regime and established the first test laboratory in Palmerston North more than 30 years ago. We now have laboratories located in Auckland, Napier, and Palmerston North. All are IANZ accredited and equipped to test a range of materials and products, including soil types, aggregates to asphalt / bitumen within the laboratory, and in the field.

They also assist the Napier-based Product Development Team in the design and development of new products, helping Higgins deliver high performance paving solutions, from new asphalt formulas to bituminous materials, surfaces and pavement designs.
