Dashwood Overbridge Alignment project wins regional CCNZ award
The Malborough/Nelson Civil Contractors NZ awards were held on 17 June 2016. Higgins Nelson was awarded in the category ‘Projects Over $1.5m’ for the SH1S Dashwood Overbridge Alignment project.
The key feature of the contract was the construction of a 54m long rail overpass along with two 8.6m high retaining walls. The new 2km road alignment removed six slow speed curves and a narrow overpass which had caused a number of crashes in recent years. This project was the biggest roading project in Marlborough since the Awatere Bridge replacement in 2007.
The team tailored their work programme to reduce disruption to the general public while finishing the project ahead of schedule and under budget.
