Dowse to Petone
The NZTA project was designed to address delays and safety issues on the 2.7km stretch of SH2.
Project Overview
The major works were conducted by a Fletcher-Higgins joint jenture; and an internal joint venture with Brian Perry Civil. A new interchange at the base of Dowse Drive and a new over-bridge at Korokoro now provide better connectivity to and from the state highway for Wellington motorists and residents on the Western Hutt hills of the Hutt Valley.
Higgins Role
The Dowse to Petone project was a Joint Venture Partner between Higgins and Fletcher Engineering. The Joint venture involves the sharing of management, planning and execution of the project, physical construction of all the roads and temporary traffic management associated with the project. Construction of the State Highway involved the reconstruction of four lanes of live highway using a Higgins designed and manufactured deep lift asphalt.
