Hawke’s Bay Expressway

The final southern extension of the Hawkes Bay Expressway was completed in February 2011 on time and under budget.

Project Overview

Higgins Contractors Hawkes Bay completed the construction of three kilometres of road with two roundabouts and four box culverts.  The Higgins team have received top marks in environmental audits and the final audit of the contract from the Contract Management Review Team.

Higgins Role

Higgins was the main contractor for the delivery of the expressway.  This involved all contract management activities including quality, safety and environmental management plans.  Higgins managed subcontractors for earthworks, box culverts and landscaping.  All pavement construction, surfacing and traffic management was undertaken by Higgins own teams.
