Momentum building at Kaiwera Downs Stage 2
We’re powering ahead at Mercury NZ Kaiwera Downs Stage 2 wind farm, with strong momentum across January and February as we deliver this major renewable energy project.
More than one million cubic metres of material have been moved, 31 kilometres of internal roading are complete, and all 36 foundations are now finished for the project’s 36 turbines. Above ground, progress continues at speed, with 17 tower units installed to date and eight already fully complete. We’re tracking toward the first six turbines going live in early April 2026.
Once complete, Stage 2 will generate enough electricity to power the equivalent of an additional 73,000 homes each year, strengthening New Zealand’s renewable energy future.
We’re proud of the coordination, commitment and teamwork across the project, with each milestone bringing us closer to delivering long term renewable energy.
